In order to really understand the power of earning residual income, think about how a wealthy businessman friend explained the power of residual income to me.

My friend told me the story of a bus driver and a heart surgeon. He asked me which person did I think made more money. I told him I thought the heart surgeon made more money.

Then my friend explained that yes, the heart surgeon made more money, but the bus driver and the heart surgeon were in very similar situations because in both careers when they finish their shifts and go home at the end of the day, neither person makes any more money.

Once they complete their bus route or finish the scheduled surgeries for that day, they will not create any additional income in that day.

Most people do not have the talent of JK Rowlings or Julia Roberts to create a residual income writing novels and making movies. The network marketing business opportunity is a viable option for many people who would like to own their own home-based business and earn residual income.

As you lay your head down on your pillow tonight, think about earning a residual income while you sleep. Will you sleep soundly and wake up to an overnight earnings of hundreds or thousands of dollars the next day? People who earn residual income have the opportunity of having money in the bank in the morning.

Residual Income is income that continues to build whether we are personally performing the service or selling the product at the time or not. Some people call residual income Beach Money.

Some examples of residual income include:

Michael Jordan: Mr. Jordan created a few commercials for Hanes and Nike one time and is paid over and over for that work each time they are aired.

Elvis Presley: Elvis sang his songs one and now his daughter,Lisa Marie is paid over and over on the work Elvis did one time.

Julia Roberts: An actress is paid once for the movie she makes, but will receive movie royalties each time the movie is aired.

Harry Potter books are very popular. J.K. Rowling will write the book once and then be paid for every copy sold thereafter. She did the work once, but is paid a royalty fee over and over.

What if you don’t have the basketball talent of Jordan, singing talent of Elvis, or the acting talent of Julia Roberts?

Owning your own home-based business with direct marketing as your means of distribution is one viable option for many people to earn residual income and build a future for their families.

Residual income is earned long after the work has been completed, thus the term “beach money”. You may be enjoying the beach while earning residual income.

For many people, the only type of income they are familiar with is “Linear” income. Linear income is money earned while performing a service or selling a product. Most people are very familiar with Linear income whether or not they know what name to give it.

We only earn linear income during the hours of the day that we are engaging in our career. During our time off, we will not be earning any income.

Some examples of careers that earn linear income:

The list can go on and on…… most careers do create linear income. When we stop working and go home for the evening, we are no longer getting paid. We are paid for our skill, presence, and time we are at work.

          Many people are either looking for a home-based business opportunity or currently owns their own home-based business.  All across the nation, people are facing higher gas prices, mortgage struggles, and general rising prices and many people need an extra income source.

1)      Team leadership in which they are NOT the only ones earning six-figure incomes

2)      Team that has their own lead generation system that my team can utilize

3)      Products that are needed by everyone

4)      Auto-ship that is fairly low

5)      Make money quickly

I have noticed within the last five months, probably due to the tightening economy, that a large number of people do not have extra money to meet a $150 to $200 auto-ship order. 

They need lower auto-ships and to be able to order products they would normally use.  This is a very individual determination depending on what products each person considers “necessary”.

Can your team help you make a paycheck quickly? Does your home-based business opportunity offer products you would purchase without having to spend extra money monthly? Does your team have a system to generate leads for your business?

      Relationship marketing is directly related to caring about the “person” rather than their bank account. Build relationships on truth and honesty just as you would any lasting friendship.    

Relationship marketing involves being honest and sincere with the people you meet along the way. Build credibility with prospects by telling them that the industry average for most people to achieve success in any home-based business is 3 to 5 years rather than letting them think they will most likely achieve success in 3 to 5 weeks. 

If business owners achieve their business goals in a shorter amount of time, that is great!!! Building a successful home-based business will require some working capital for products and possibly marketing their new business. There are opportunities to market a home-based business for FREE, but many good advertising avenues will cost some money.  

As with any home-based business, the owner is afforded the opportunity for additional tax deductions, which in turn may free up additional income for marketing activities.
